Saying that, having the opportunity to live in France for the better part of five years, we have had the time of our lives! My husband and myself grew up in the Vancouver area of British Columbia, Canada.  Like many we have always had a love for France, so in the spring of 2006 we decided to take an extended vacation to France and look for a property to purchase. We were ready for a life change, so we sold our home, put our memories in a box and said goodbye to our three adult children. It was bon-voyage for us!

We began our search in the Loire Valley, after staying in a few other towns, we discovered the village of La Charité-sur-Loire.             It fit all of our criteria. An active village (young and old people Pop. Approx. 5,500) with art and music festivals, close to Paris, on a train route, in notable wine country, on the Loire, easy cycling routes, not too touristy and reasonable prices.

It didn’t take long before friends began flocking over and discovering the love for France too. Rubbing elbows with the locals at the weekly markets, eating out at the family restaurants and even taking up the chance to dine with a few of the neighbours in their homes and practicing our high-school French...becoming a part of small town France.
